Here, the terroir brings out the quintessence of the Chardonnay grape variety, which has earned it worldwide renown for its great white wines. The spire of the bell tower seems to be the ≈ìwork of the fairies: its stone spire rises to a height of 53 meters. These excellent vineyards were developed by the Cîteaux monks as early as 1098. The Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée was instituted in 1937. See more

Food & wine pairing

Its aromatic power and exceptional balance based on richness and acidity make it one of Burgundy's great lords, resulting in a natural penchant for noble, beautifully textured meats and fish. Without dominating them, it transcends them: such is the case with fine pieces of veal or poultry in white sauce, sublimated by the wine's unctuous texture and long, distinguished acidity. Even better: with grilled shellfish and shellfish in sauce, such as gambas, lobster or crayfish, whose aromatic intensity and crisp texture play with its lively, supple balance. Even blue cheeses and foie gras take to it on the first try.
