Auxey-Duresses, a little-known wine

A small village among the big ones

Still present onthe Côte de Beaune, this area is little known the world over. And yet, Auxey - Duresses (pronounced Aussey) is brimming with qualitywines!

This small village on the threshold of a valley that plunges into the Hautes Côtes boasts 92 hectares of red wine production and 50 hectares of white wine, with no less than 9 Premier Cru climats.

Auxey - Duresses is a bright ruby-red wine with a perfect balance: neither too light, nor too dark. This harmony is also evident on the nose, as the wine oscillates perfectly between small black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry or blueberry) and more floral aromas such as peony.

This sweetness and acidity are also found on the palate, with a fine, supple wine from the start, then a little more measured and fleshy on the finish. A very pleasant sensation!

When young, Auxey - Duresses can be quite astringent. But don't panic! Its tannins soften very quickly, giving way to a velvety texture with more animal, spicy and leathery notes.

For the white, Auxey - Duresses stands out for its crystal-clear straw color, which blends perfectly with its aromas of fresh almond and reinette apple.

Beautiful nuances that are also found on the palate with mineral and biscuity notes.

When young, Auxey - Duresses is quite lively. As it matures, it develops its beautiful body and fatness

For food and wine pairings, the tannic structure of the red will go perfectly with fine meats and white meats, such as a fine piece of veal, cured ham or grilled fish, all at a serving temperature of between 15 and 16 degrees.

The brightness of the white matches perfectly with shrimps or fish in hot or simmered sauces. You can also go for it with Gruyère cheese or some goat's cheeses. The recommended serving temperature is 12-14°C.
