Our history

Discover Domaine Chanzy

1928

It all began in 1928, in Bouzeron, a small village in Saône-et-Loire, perched halfway up a hillside both sides of which produce renowned white wines.

Monsieur Joseph Sordet created the Verger d'Exemple estate in a building with a magnificent vaulted cellar dating back to the 16th century. His aim was to promote the cultivation of low-stemmed fruit trees and to popularize the practice of grafting in the region.

It was an immediate success, complementing the cultivation of vines in Bouzeron, Mr. Sordet teaches his grafting techniques to growers and winemakers throughout the Côte Chalonnaise.

1952

In 1952, Mr. Lucien Juif acquired the estate, which then covered 12 hectares planted with Aligoté grapes in the commune of Bouzeron.

Mr. Juif, who grew both vines and cereals, had also installed a nursery.

1966

In 1966, the estate changed hands and became the property of Monsieur Jean Beudet, a Chagny notary. Renamed Domaine Beudet, the estate grew to 18 hectares of vines.

1974

Domaine Chanzy took its present name in 1974 when it was bought by Daniel and Catherine Chanzy.

The total surface area of the vineyard increased to 37 hectares.
