Discover Chambolle-Musigny, an elegant and feminine wine

Burgundy is undoubtedly one of France's most emblematic regions for the production of grands crus. With no fewer than 84 appellations recognized the world over, Burgundy has nothing to envy anyone.

The region is so vast and rich in vineyards that it is divided into five sub-regions: Chablis (and the Grand Auxerrois), Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Châlonnaise and Mâconnais

It's packed with real nuggets like Fixin - Marsannay, Gevrey Chambertin and Morey-Saint-Denis, which we've already mentioned.

Today, we're going to take a look at Chambolle-Musigny. This tiny village on the Côte de Nuits lies between Morey-Saint-Denis, Musigny and Clos de Vougeot. The wines produced here have enjoyed Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée status since September 1936 - one of the first in France!

Chambolle-Musigny is one of the most prestigious wines on the Côte d'Azur. And with good reason: it's one of the 1,000 wines you can recognize. Made exclusively from red Pinot Noir grapes, this wine is often described as the most feminine on the Côte. On the palate, Chambolle-Musigny 's finesse, intensity and elegance are immediately apparent.

It has earned this reputation not least for its very floral character. Indeed, the aromas are very floral, but also very red-fruited, such as strawberry or raspberry. As it ages, it retains its fruity aroma, but evolves towards a riper, spicier fruit, such as prune, and may have undergrowth aromas. The result is a velvety-smooth mouthfeel with a solid, low-acid structure.

Chambolle-Musigny should be served at a temperature of 12 to 14 degrees for young wines. More mature wines should be served at around 14 to 16 degrees.

Its aromas go perfectly with light meats such as white meats. The same goes for cheeses: the mildest go well with Chambolle-Musigny, such as Brillat-Savarin or Brie de Meaux .

This wine is much sought-after by collectors, and is synonymous with refinement the world over, especially its two world-renowned grands crus: Musigny and Bonnes-Mares .
