Come and discover Meursault

Today, our tour of the Côte de Beaune takes us to Meursault. An emblematic village the world over. The commune covers some 371 hectares of white vineyards, made from the Chardonnay grape variety, and "only" 13 hectares of red vineyards, made from Pinot Noir. The appellation could not be richer, with 21 Premiers Crus in white Burgundy, including Meursault 1er Cru Bouchères, Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières, Meursault 1er Cru Charmes, Meursault 1er Cru Perrières, Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots etc...
Meursault is ideally situated, with limestone marl soils at an altitude of around 260 meters, giving it a wine with very mineral notes. But depending on the Premiers Crus and the different Climats, significant nuances appear.
Most often a white wine, Meursault has a beautiful gold-green or serin yellow color, tending more towards bronze as it ages. The color is quite distinctive, often with a silver sheen. Its bouquet is also recognizable among many others.
When young, Meursault tends towards almond and roasted hazelnut, as well as vegetal notes of hawthorn, elderberry and verbena, with a touch of flinty minerality.
On the nose, the aromas are much softer and rounder, reminiscent of butter, honey and citrus.
Meursault is a rather rich, fat wine, with a strong nutty flavor. On the palate, there's a perfect balance between smoothness and freshness, which you should not hesitate to age. All these aromas make Meursault a perfect accompaniment to fine cuts of veal in white sauce, for example, or grilled shellfish in sauce, such as lobster, crayfish or prawns.
Try pairing with blue cheeses or foie gras. To serve, we recommend a temperature of 12-14°C.
