All the information on this emblematic event

It's a tradition that has taken its place in the month of November in France. For several years now, Beaujolais Nouveau has been expected on the third Thursday in November. But where does this eagerly-awaited moment come from?

The history of Beaujolais Nouveau began on March 11, 1951. At that time, regulations governing the sale of wine changed. The decree published in the Journal Officiel revealed that "producers were only authorized to release from their cellars wines from the 1951 harvest benefiting from the appellation d'origine contrôlée from December 15, 1951″.

A decision that did not please the Beaujolais winegrowers. They wanted to sell their production earlier, and asked for the possibility of selling their wines"en primeur", before December 15, 1951. The request was accepted on November 15, but with one condition This request was accepted on November 15, but with one condition: "in which certain AOC wines can be marketed now, without waiting for the general release on December 15".And so Beaujolais Nouveau was born.

Since 1985, this cuvée has arrived every third Thursday in November at precisely 00:00. Beaujolais Nouveau is produced in the Beaujolais vineyards north of Lyon and south of Macon

And this year's Beaujolais is due on Thursday, November 18, 2021. And will this year's wine live up to last year's fruity taste? Every year, Beaujolais Nouveau becomes a little rounder and more aromatic. Indeed, withglobal warming, grapes are becoming sweeter and sweeter, resulting in wines that are more structured and less acidic, making them more accessible to consumers.

A phenomenon that has become so widespread that it is now exported abroad. Beaujolais Nouveau can even be found in theUSA and Asia. Every year, the festival grows in popularity, and French restaurants are now playing along.
