The vineyards of Les Maranges (mainly a red wine made from Pinot Noir, with a few white Chardonnay vines) form the link between Côte d'Or and Saône-et-Loire. It is in perfect harmony with Santenay, with which it shares several esteemed crus. The 1988 harvest saw the birth of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée Maranges, covering the three villages of Cheilly-lès-Maranges, Décize-lès-Maranges and Sampigny-lès-Maranges. This AOC blossoms in a landscape of softness and character. Henri Vincenot, the great Burgundian writer, described this small country with its warm soul. What beautiful old winegrowers' houses! And what a picture for a painter! See more

Food & wine pairing

Roast Côte de cochon noir de Bigorre, chestnut jus and parsnip mousseline: the richness and roundness of the dish match the tannic structure and smooth texture of the wine, while the woody, spicy notes of the wine complement the deep flavors of the chestnut jus. Bœuf bourguignon: a classic that highlights the wine's power and elegance. The dish's long cooking time and spiciness harmonize perfectly with the wine's toasty, spicy character.
