Appellation : The Maranges vineyard (mainly a red wine made from Pinot Noir, with a few white Chardonnay vines) forms the link between Côte d'Or and Saône-et-Loire. The 1988 harvest saw the birth of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée Maranges, covering the three villages of Cheilly-lès-Maranges, Décize-lès-Maranges and Sampigny-lès-Maranges. The great Burgundian writer Henri Vincenot described this small country with its warm soul. What beautiful old winegrowers' houses! Climat: Name derived from the Old French Faisse "bande, lien, faisceau, bande de terre"- from the Latin FASCIA "band, ribbon", then, in late Latin, "zone(de la terre), bande". The Occitan Faisse, with the same etymology, means "strip of land supported by a wall", and in the plural, "terasse cultivation". This is the meaning of the Occitan word used here. Vintage: Great vintage with good balance despite a very hot summer. 2023 stands out for its balance between opulence and freshness. The white wines stand out for their maturity and balance, typical of great Burgundy wines, while the reds are expressive and greedy, with silky tannins. See more

Food & wine pairing

Côte de cochon noir de Bigorre rôtie, jus de viande à la châtaigne et mousseline de panais: the richness and roundness of the dish match the tannic structure and smooth texture of the wine, while the woody, spicy notes of the wine complement the deep flavors of the chestnut jus.
Bœuf bourguignon: a classic that highlights the power and elegance of the wine. The dish's long cooking time and spiciness harmonize perfectly with the wine's toasty, spicy character.
